As part of the two-day 1st Zadar Conference - "Realization of High-Quality Integrated Territorial Investments (ITU Mechanism) in the Republic of Croatia", representatives of the European Urban Initiative (EUI) visited Inovativni Zadar, a company currently developing three EU projects funded through ITU mechanisms.
Conference participants toured the GZ Crno, where 4.7 million euros have been invested in its traffic and municipal infrastructure. They were also briefed on the progress of the new infrastructure at Incubator Bili Brig, worth 3.3 million euros. The working meeting concluded with a visit to the "smart room" and an analysis of the IT systems promoting sustainability, into which the City of Zadar has invested 4.7 million euros, alongside the reconstruction of Tuđmanova Street.
It's worth noting that Zadar's institutions received over 30 million euros from the previous ITU envelope (2014-2020), which transformed the urban fabric of the city. In addition to infrastructure for entrepreneurs, such as the incubator on Bili Brig and the Business Zone in Crno, valuable cultural and educational assets were renovated, including the Church of St. Nicholas and the old Technical School. The Center for Culture and Youth was built, and Zadar's role as a sustainable city was strengthened through the implementation of numerous "smart" technological solutions.
The new ITU financial period (2021-2027) will bring even more generous European funding to Zadar, amounting to a staggering 43 million euro, providing an opportunity to design and set new strategic development goals for the city.
